GPT-6 Sol
The first GPT-6 middle tier, kept for work already built on it.
About GPT-6 Sol
GPT-6 Sol launched on 22 September 2026 at half the list price of the GPT-5.6 Sol it replaced, built for coding and agent workflows. OpenAI said it beat Claude Opus 5 on AutomationBench at a small fraction of Opus 5’s cost per task, and that it makes about half as many factual errors as its predecessor in OpenAI’s own tests.
A week later OpenAI shipped GPT-6.1 Sol at the same price, and that is the one to choose for new work. GPT-6 Sol stays for products already tested on it — and for work that needs reasoning switched off entirely, which 6.1 Sol does not allow.
Where it’s strong
Products already built and tested on GPT-6 Sol.
Coding agents on a budget.
Work that needs reasoning switched fully off for speed.
Where to be careful
Superseded within a week by GPT-6.1 Sol, which scores higher at the same price.
On some coding tests it scored below the older GPT-5.6 Sol — 68.8% against 72.7% on DeepSWE. It traded peak ability for price.

For scale: 1,000 requests of about 3,000 tokens in and 1,000 out cost $18.40 — a long prompt and a page of answer each. Every rate is published and stays the same from one request to the next. See every model.

)Questions
How much does GPT-6 Sol cost?
Input is $2.30 per 1M tokens; output is $11.50 per 1M tokens. For scale, 1,000 requests of about 3,000 tokens in and 1,000 out cost $18.40. The rate is published and does not change from one request to the next.
Can I use GPT-6 Sol alongside other models?
Yes. Every model on Roar AI is on the same API key and the same monthly invoice, so switching from GPT-6 Sol to another model is a change to one word in your code.
Is GPT-6 Sol open source?
No. OpenAI does not publish the weights, so it is only available through an API like this one.
