Grok 4.6
xAI’s flagship from August 2026, strongest at graduate-level science questions.
About Grok 4.6
Grok 4.6 is xAI’s flagship for code and general work. Its standout number is 94.9% on GPQA Diamond, a test of graduate-level science questions, which independent rankings put first of hundreds of models. It also made a big jump over Grok 4.5 on agent-style office work, and xAI highlights turning a rough description into a working software prototype.
On an independent test of made-up answers, its rate fell from 54% to 34% — better, but still about one wrong answer in three on that test, so keep a check on anything a customer sees. Its context window is 500K tokens, half that of the million-token models.
Where it’s strong
Graduate-level science and technical questions.
Turning a description into a working app or interface prototype.
Coding agents.
Where to be careful
Still made something up on about a third of the questions in one independent hallucination test.
Half the context of the million-token models.
xAI publishes no evaluation harness of its own, so its scores come from third parties.
Price
For scale: 1,000 requests of about 3,000 tokens in and 1,000 out cost $13.80 — a long prompt and a page of answer each. Every rate is published and stays the same from one request to the next. See every model.

Questions
How much does Grok 4.6 cost?
Input is $2.30 per 1M tokens; output is $6.90 per 1M tokens. For scale, 1,000 requests of about 3,000 tokens in and 1,000 out cost $13.80. The rate is published and does not change from one request to the next.
Can I use Grok 4.6 alongside other models?
Yes. Every model on Roar AI is on the same API key and the same monthly invoice, so switching from Grok 4.6 to another model is a change to one word in your code.
Is Grok 4.6 open source?
No. xAI does not publish the weights, so it is only available through an API like this one.
